Application call for the DESY Summer Student Program 2024! It’s an 8-week training program for international students to experience research in the various fields at DESY, Germany. Students who are pursuing their Undergraduate degree and are about to obtain their degree and students who are enrolled in the Master’s degree program in the fields related to physics, related natural sciences, and computing are encouraged to apply.
During the summer students program, you will have an opportunity to gain experience in independent research while working with scientists who are experts in their fields. During the program, you will also visit experiments, accelerators, and the computer center of DESY.
The duration of the summer program is 2 months that will start from 16th July – 5th September 2024. The application procedure to apply for the Summer DESY program is online and the application will last till 31st January 2024. DESY will provide a monthly stipend and accommodation in the DESY hostel during the program. About the DESY Summer Program
DESY offers 2 two-month summer program for international students to join day to day-to-day work of research groups at the large international laboratory in Hamburg or Zeuthen (Berlin). During the summer program selected participants will be paid a monthly stipend an amount of 1200 Euros/Month.
The program is specially organized for bachelor and master students who want to experience research in the fields of Photon Science, Elementary Particle Physics Accelerators, and Astroparticle physics. The students will work 39 hours a week during the program.

Program Duration

Eligibility Criteria:
- Students must have completed 3 years of full-time undergraduate degree.
- Students in the field of Physics, Related natural science, or computing disciplines can apply.
- Students pursuing their master’s degree program can also apply.
- Students who have completed their master’s degree or are about to complete are not eligible.
- Applicants must not have previously attended the summer program at DESY.
DESY Summer Program Benefits

Required Documents
While applying for the program you need to upload a single document in PDF format containing the following documents:
- An Updated CV containing your work experience and educational history
- University Certificates that show your grades
- Applicants belonging from Non-EU & Non-EEA will need a work permit for Germany
Upload a Second single page document in PDF format that contains:
- Copy of applicant’s passport
- Enrollment certificate provided by your institute
- Two Reference letters from your two referees
The Central Agency in Bonn requires a “Declaration of Certificate of Enrollment” which is mandatory and needs to be signed by your institute. Link of Declaration of Certificate
Note: The uploading of the documents needs to be done on the second page of the application make sure you provide all the documents required in the application else your application won’t be accepted.
